Primary and Junior High School Students from Fthiotida Who “Guard Thermopylae” Were Honoured

A particularly special parallel initiative, with strong symbolism and a meaningful educational impact, framed the 5th Session of the Thermopylae Forum 2026, “The Power of the New Generation.”

At the initiative of the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Central Greece, the action “Students of Fthiotida as Active Citizens Guard Thermopylae” was held.

Thus, at the venue where the Strategic Conference was held, videos, projects, drawings and models created by primary and junior high school students from Fthiotida, dedicated to Thermopylae, were presented.

Among the dozens of schools that participated, an Education Committee selected the top seven to be honoured. The awards were also accompanied by a cash prize from the Thermopylae Forum.

The schools honoured were the 10th Primary School of Lamia, the 15th Primary School of Lamia, Makrakomi Primary School, Livanates Junior High School, Moschochori Junior High School with Senior High School Classes, the 4th Experimental Senior High School of Lamia and the Special Vocational Education and Training Laboratory of Fthiotida.

Honorary commendations were also awarded to 11 additional schools, namely: the 3rd Kindergarten of Atalanti, the 15th Kindergarten of Lamia, the 1st Primary School of Spercheiada, the 16th Experimental Primary School of Lamia, Kainourgio Primary School, Kompotades–Mexiates Primary School, Neo Monastiri Primary School, Amfikleia Senior High School, Martino Senior High School, Molos Junior High School, and the Model Ecclesiastical Junior High School–Senior High School of Lamia.
