The valuable digital application SAFE.YOUth, developed for the protection and safety of children and young people, was presented at the Thermopylae Forum 2026 by the Press Spokesperson of the Hellenic Police, Police Captain Konstantia Dimoglidou.
Ms. Dimoglidou also informed the audience about the possibility of providing minors with an emergency button — an application similar to the much better-known and widely used panic button, due to the rise in domestic violence — through which the Police can know where a child is located when they are being attacked or are in any kind of need for help.

The Hellenic Police Spokesperson also referred to the five-digit telephone number “10201,” which operates 24 hours a day with specialised staff from the Juvenile Protection Sub-Directorate, and which a child or young person can call for issues related to protection, abuse or juvenile delinquency.

Overall, the 4th session of this year’s Thermopylae Forum drew the attention of the hundreds of parents, children and educators who attended at the Thermopylae Historical Information Centre, as well as those who were able to watch it online, as juvenile delinquency and addiction to digital media are issues of deep concern for our society.

A characteristic conclusion was drawn by the former Head of the Cyber Crime Division, Manolis Sfakianakis, who stated: “We do not have a problem with minors; we have a problem with adults who abandoned their children to algorithms. TikTok took over their upbringing, YouTube became the ‘father,’ Instagram defined their value, and we applauded because… our children had finally calmed down.”

The remarks by psychologist Stavroula Spyropoulou of The Smile of the Child and Maria Liouta, legal adviser to the Minister of Digital Governance, were also significant, as they shared their experience on critical issues concerning minors. Equally important was the intervention of Fthiotida MP Giorgos Kotronias, who placed particular emphasis on the institution of the family and the significance of the creation of the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family.
It is worth watching below the video of the entire 4th session, “Minors in Crisis: What Is Happening with Young People? Delinquency, Addiction & the Influence of the Digital World,” which was moderated with experience by the well-known fellow journalist and presenter Zina Koutselini:
